Intrauterine devices cannot be used on women who have some uterine abnormalities or conditions. There are other factors that may prevent women from using an IUD such as complications in pregnancy, anemic women, and women who are risk for acquiring a sexually transmitted disease.

Intrauterine devices may cause other complications.
