China's 'One Child' Family Planning Policy Ads Scrutinized

The Chinese government has backtracked a bit in it's campaign to advertise it's "one-child" family planning policy.

China's current policy restricts urban families to one child. Families in rural areas may have a second child if the first child is a girl. A rural family traditionally

Critics believe the "one-child" policy provokes abortions and rural families say it handicaps their traditional likelihood.

Many believe the new "one-child" slogans to be more than inappropriate.

A few examples:

"Raise fewer babies but more piggies"

"One more baby means one more tomb"

"Houses toppled, cows confiscated, if abortion demand rejected"

These slogans are advertised on the side of buildings and on billboards.
