Introduction to Yasmin Birth Control Pills: Yasmin Side Effects
The Yasim birth control pill is a synthetic progestin birth control pill used by women to prevent pregnancy who favor an oral birth control pill over other forms of contraceptives.
Yasmin, marketed by Schering Health Care, contains drosirenone. Drospirenone is a synthetic progesterone used in newer oral contraceptives and to manage symptoms of menopause. (Drosperinone is also present in the medication Yaz, which is prescribed to treat symptoms of Post Traumatic Distress Disorder).
As of 2007, Yasmin is the only birth birth control pill containing
drosperinone (drsp). Most birth control pills are similar in that
they contain some type of the hormones estrogen and progestin. Yasmin,
distinguished by the presence of drsp, is marketed as a birth control
pill with less side effects than other birth control pills.
